self aligning roller rocker question.

Ok this may be stupid question. I am looking at comp cam 1.6 roller tip rocker that have the ball pivot since I think they will fit the best under centerbolt vc. PN is 1418-16.

I know the description says self aligning like I need but looking at the picture shows no grooves in the roller so how do they self align? I am guessing it is very slight and not noticable in pic?

I know that other full roller rockers have the groove.

Re: self aligning roller rocker question.

should have two little tangs/disc on outside of roller to keep on the valve stem. Might be wrong pic. on there too

Re: self aligning roller rocker question.

You can fit Comp's "Pro Magnum" rockers under a stock perimiter-bolt valve cover (maybe centerbolt too, no experience there) if you just use the thick cork gaskets. I did it and they cleared just fine. The ProMags need the 1/4" longer ARP studs to get the poly-locks to engage deep enough, but it still clears just fine. And thats a rediculously tough set of rockers.

Re: self aligning roller rocker question.

thanks for the pic, now I understand how they self align. my heads are at the shop right now. I wish I would have known they require longer studs but are you sure we are talkin about the same rocker? the pic you show looks like a full roller and the ones I have are a ball pivot with long slot.

Re: self aligning roller rocker question.

The stock rocker studs work just fine with those rockers.

Re: self aligning roller rocker question.

Make sure you need self-aligning rockers. Might not be an issue with your '88, but my '87 has centerbolt valve covers and it doesn't have self-aligning rockers.

They fit under the valve covers just fine. I had installed them on the stock heads before I bought the World heads and they were just fine on them as well.

The fulcrum on the full rollers is thicker than the stock type pivot ball meaning there is not enough thread left on stock studs for posilock engagement

Was just an example to show how SA rockers align on valve stem

Those are the Comp 'Magnum' rockers, not the 'Pro Magnum' rockers. The ones you have in that pic do not require longer studs. They will be just fine with stock studs.

These are the 'Pro Magnum' rockers... the BIG bearing in the middle is the reason for needing the longer studs:
