Finally ordered 383 kit
Heres what i ordered. .30 over, i have stock heads as of now....
Eagle SBC 383 Stroker Rotating Assembly, Cast/Steel EXTERNAL Balance Eagle 3.75 Stroke Crank, Eagle 5.7" Bushed SIR Rods, Speed Pro Hypereutectic Pistons .030, .040, .060 pistons, 9.8:1 comp w/64 cc heads, 9:1 with 72 cc heads, Speed Pro Moly Rings & Clevite Bearings.
Questions with Cam and Head combo...
-LT4 Hotcam kit with 1.6 rockers and machine work for the stock heads....
-Set of Dart Heads or similiar, bigger cam then LT4....
LT4 kit is gonna cost around $640 + machine work for the stock heads.
Or take that money and put towards new head and bigger cam then LT4. I think i would be pleased with a .550 lift for a cam To be honest. But again this is a budget build. 400-450hp to crank is the goal.
Soon to be ordered
RPM Air Gap single plane Intake (depends on heads)
Holley street avenger 770cfm carb

Spend the money on a new set of good flowing heads. Get a cam that is just a bit smaller than what you think you need unless you plan to run open headders.

Re: Finally ordered 383 kit
Am gonna drive this on the street, but not a daily driver, maybe 50 miles a week if that. Am still debating to go true dual 2 1/4in pipes, or standard 3 in exhaust. My friend has the true dual on his iroc setup with 2 cherry bombs with a worked 350 and the sound is just pure sex lol. Only downfall is the driver side coming out of the header is a complete 90 degree bend which am not to fond of.
Aluminum Pro Comp Heads decent?

If you get the Pro Comp heads, plan on having a competent shop go completely through them to make sure everything was done right.
Don't get a Holley SA. Go with a double pumper 750. I don't care if you've got an automatic transmission, vacuum secondaries are for trucks and tire-limited competition classes.
No less than 2.5" pipes.
Glass packs are for types whose titles are filtered out by the Board software.

-Thank you for your opinion on the SA
-I didnt think 2.5" pipes ran side by side on a F-body was possible as his
2 1/4 pipes barely fit in there as it is, i could look into it
-Being in his car last night with just glass packs made me not wanna go with glasspacks, but it did sound good. Maybe ill just stick with a 3" exhaust with magnaflows
ANYWAYS, main OP was about heads + cam, didnt want to spend much over 1k on set of good heads, if thats even possible, i would imagine any head for 1k is better then stock vortecs

Re: Finally ordered 383 kit
If starting from scratch better to get extra lift at cam .Buy a cam with the right lift and you don't need the 1.6 rockers ( save $$$ ).

Five7kid- thanks for the respond, i've decided not to buy that 377, 13.0 CR is a tad much for my application. Not buying 100's of dollars in race fuel to run it to goto the store here and there lol
