new cats, no air tubes. need an answer
guys, ive been reading for hours...too many different answers...
89 GTA, putting on new dual magnaflow cats. i have no emissions testing (Calgary, Canada) there is no air tubes on the cats. But i have the tubes coming from the diverter. I Plan on removing A.I.R. in the future. for now what do i do with the tube coming from diverter. plug it, leave it open, disconnect it from the diverter so its not just hanging there. I imagine i should leave it open but i am new to TPI always had carbs, dont know what to do with it in the meantime...Thanks

Mine has been hanging sine the day I bought my GTA years ago. I don't think it is even plugged.
With a good converter, you don't need a smog pump. It has very little to do with emissions anyways. I passed VERY WELL, with no smog pump.

So in the meantime before deleting the smog pump i can just leave the air tube from the diverter left open rather than plugging it? I will be taking out a.i.r. when i get my headers/3" mandrel bent all the way back. Cant wait!

My pump is gone, but all the tubes are still there, so everything looks good for inspectors.
I dunno if plugging it would hurt the pump or not. Doubtful, but maybe you could find a buyer for a good pump later?

Re: new cats, no air tubes. need an answer
does anyone know if the pump is still there if the tube from the diverter to the cat should be plugged or not. I don't think it should because the air that is generated needs to exit somehow correct? Wouldn't plugging it cause an issue? I think I just answered my own question...
