hei & intake questions
when i got my 87 camaro, the proper gutting of any computer contolled bs was done.its runs of a standard coil on top hei.well that in itself is my problem.i cant set the timing right or adjust the vacum advance because it is humping the firewall.one option i wont consider is the ol hammer the firewall method.so what i'm wondering is,is there a way to take a computer controlled hei distributor(of a 91) & convert it so it will work as a non comp controlled?if not did gm ever make a non comp controlled remote coil hei? if you have one you are willing to part with please lemme know, this has been headache for a while now.
question# 2
what is the exact difference between 87+ & pre 86 intake manifolds?iv heard something like 2 bolts at a diff angle.is there some sort of way to make a pre 86 work on a 87+ motor?i really want a weiand stealth intake, but i'm not gonna pay twice as much, its crazy.right now i'm running a edelbrock preformer intake which i'm not fond of,if ya have a stealth that will work on 87+ smallblocks for a decent price of or trade ,once again please lemme know.
i'm getting close to my ideal setup but there is always a gremlin no matter what the job

Re: hei & intake questions
The later small cap HEIs have zero provisions for centrifugal or vacuum advance. If the big cap thing has you concerned then go aftermarket or get an old points-style distributor redone with electronic pickup and module.

Re: hei & intake questions
its that the 2 center holes are drilled at diff angles on both sides, buy the intake you want and oblong the 2 center holes on the intake so you can thred the bolt in the head and tighten it, it seals fine

gotta love gm engineers.change something insignificant like that, but big enough to give a headache.would you say a heli coil insert would be a good idea?

Re: hei & intake questions
no need for inserts you are only going to remove material from the intake so that the bolt can engauge the threads squarely
