Factory Head codes

So I'm digging around on this site for cheap, simple ways to help with power on a completely factory 305. Right now I'm poking through the information that can be obtained via the search option regarding factory cylinder heads that can be installed with little or no hassle and show improvement over the garbage swirl heads my car came with.

so far this is what I have:

081 Factory TPI heads, not swirl port and significant gains can be made with some home port/polish work. Works with factory tbi mani.

113 Aluminum corvette heads, lighter and better than factory heads. Porting results unknown

059 Vortec heads, best breathing but requires dumping the factory egr gear and needs a different (costly) manifold. Great option if you have the cash i guess.

Are there any other suggestions for cheap, budget-friendly cylinder heads for a 305 block? Most of the info out there atm is for 350's. Summit made me a sad panda, they have some great performance heads for dirt cheap (241 each)....but they are 76 cc

113s Do not have EGR. So if you were dead set on keeping that you would need to look elsewhere. Otherwise they are nice heads (just got a pair from the magic brown truck a week ago) especially for the price. As for their flow they will do whatever the 081s will. From the information I dug up they are identical, or at least enough is the same that they flow the exact same numbers lol.

Best bet for you might just be a Hog-n-Buff and shove some new valves on some old 081s. But your still in like $400-$500 or more for, lets face it Stock Iron Heads that wont do what you were hoping for in the first place.

Although, just about any cylinder head you can fit on that engine is going to be better than what your running. I guess its a choice of what your comfortable with paying. $500 or less: Used Ebay heads or Worked Stockers. $500-$800: Cheap aluminum heads IE Patriot or L98 Vette Heads.

The 416 heads from an early 80's 305 are supposed to be pretty good. I have them on my 350 with some home port/polish work. One of the members on here has a good thread on porting them. I can't remember the name of the thread, but I believe it was posted by Sitting Bull.

As for the 76cc chambers on the Summit heads, have you checked into getting them milled down to a smaller chamber size?

Yeah I asked around a bit, apparently getting something milled that far will also require some significant intake milling, it all becomes rather cost-prohibitive.
