92 5.7L quits when hot

I have an odd situation here. My 92 z28 will start just fine. I take it out for a drive and out of the blue the thing just quits. No backfire, no spitting, sputtering, etc. When I try to start it, it will turn over and act as if it is going to start, but wont. After the car has set for a while it starts right up. Has anybody out there had this issue before?

Check the ignition module - it's in the distributor cap under the rotor button. I had one that went bad and did the same kinda thing.

Re: 92 5.7L quits when hot

I'm having the same problem with my 1991 z-28. Over the past two years I replaced the distributor with a "brand new GM", module, cap, rotor, gas tank, fuel pump, fuel filter I could go on and on. My car runs great it's a 383 stroker I only have about 2,500 miles on it. When I run it for awhile it will just shut off and then when I go to start it it turns over but does'nt start. I put a fuel pressure gauge on the post and it looses all pressure during this episode. I'm going to change all the relays, both fan and fuel relays. Then I'm going to clean all the grounds on the wiring harness and put dialectric grease on all the connections. My fan and fuel relays get extremely hot prior to it happening so I think it may be a combination of bad grounds effecting the relays causing the fuel pump relay to malfunction. I will let you know how I do after I make the corrections.

what camaronewbie said.... its either the ignition module or the distributor..... make sure the module has grease... i had the exact same problem with my old l98...... when hot it would shut off... then when it cools a little bit it will start back up......
