Burnt intank fuel pump wiring
Well I dropped the tank in order to replace the fuel pump(1991 Z28 305 tpi). While removing the stock pump from the assembly I noticed that the factory 2 wire connection (white&black)was burnt on the ground side (black)on the connection to the factory pump and missing about 3/4 of an inch of insulation! I'm replacing the pump with a walbro 255. This pump came with a jumper harness to connect the new pump to the factory wiring. I want to cut the wire back to good insulation and solder the jumper harness to the factory harness. My question is what can I use to cover(re-insulate) the soldered wires? I've heard that shrink tube will dissolve in fuel. On a side note I cannot believe that this car didn't burn to the ground! Mods, if you think that this question would be better off in another section please move. Thanks.

JETS CARS !
Teflon insulated wire is compatible with gasoline.
Gasoline has an ignition temperature of 495°.
Low grades insulation melt at lower temps than that.
Happy Racing!

Fog lights are not driving lights. They look dorky. Turn em off slow pokes.
How bout those dorks too scared to drive without headlights on in the daytime!

Re: Burnt intank fuel pump wiring
Mine was the same way idk i guess that is just part of the pump burning out. Mine did it after 250,000 miles but my new pump i bought came with a new plug & wires. So i guess the plug fails with the pump???
I just rewired mine & i used heat shrink i hope it doesnt dissolve ima google it....
Well hard to find the answer but Walbro intank installation instructions tell you to use heatshrink on the wiring.
