Lengh for serp belt w/o a/c or air pump?
I converted over to a 383 from 305 and i noticed my water pump no long works because the opposite rotation so i am getting rid of the a/c and useless air pump that i was using as a ideler pulley. If i take those off how long of a belt is needed for the system work funtion properly and where can i find a belt that size. I looked around and no luck yet, if anyone can help i would be very happy, thank you.

no clue. Are you using a ac delte pulley setup? easiest way is to just measure it with a string and order the belt of that length. If your not using a delete pulley and just have a belt around the waterpump/alternator/powersteering/crank then its gonna be pretty short belt. Dayco is the big name for belts at most parts stores. Whatever length you need, just ask them to lookup a belt of that size, they should beable to get you something

If you are using a Serpentine system I don't think you can eliminate the AC and the Smog together because of the placement of the belt tensioner. You'll likely have to go with a Vbelt setup, or run a AC delete pulley.
You can remove a smog pump no problem, just get a shorter belt thats the same width as well as having the same rib pattern.

I did the smog / ac delete pulley system on my new ATK 350. The way to do it is to buy a turn buckle and bolt it between the top alternator bolt (need a longer one of course) and then to the bracket where it used to bolt on to. You can spend a good amount on a turn buckle, but I am using I think a 6" one from Home Depot, its rated for a couple hundred pounds and Ive never had a problem. As for the belt length, Im using a 50" at the moment, 49.5" would be better but the local auto zone didnt have that. If you would like a picture of the setup let me know. Good luck.

as I said before, its a 50" belt. ive put 2000 miles on the engine like this and never had a problem. the only down side is you have to unbolt the alternator to check the power steering level, but that takes all of 2 minutes with the right tools.

Dart, like I said, 2000 miles and never a problem, MAYBE at 5500 rpm it will slip or something, but my engine only revs to 5k. Im really sick of people jumping onto these discussions that have never tried it and dont KNOW what the real situation is. Ya, your supposed to have half of the pulley rapped with the belt, but guess what? It works. So I guess that theory is wrong. Get over it, the car ran 14 at 96 mph with this setup, go ahead and try to say it doesnt work again, I dont care what you or anyone else thinks, it works.
As for the OP, glad to hear you got it setup, around the tensioner is a great way to do it when your set on keeping the passenger side bracket on there. I went for a less cluttered look, but both work so thats all that matters.
