I have a 92 Z28 350 tpi. The first issue was, I heard a very light "tap" sound coming form the driver side engine area a few weeks ago and is still present, but seems to go away after it warms up.

2nd issue-Last evening I noticed when I got it out for a run that there was a large puff of white smoke when I started the engine and the smoke had a very rich gas odor. Upon driving, the check engine light came on and i noticed the fast idle never kicked down. When I floored it the check engine light when out and the idle went back to normal but after about 30 seconds the fast idle was back and the check engine light came on again. Can anyone give me a idea what is causing this?

my car has the white smoke and the gas rich smell but the tap might be the car having little fluid like brake or transmission mabye your relay right there might be loose and the tap is the electricity going throught it? mabye just a thought
