WILL OLD HEADS TAKE NEW ACCESSORIES

This is all 57kids fault. I was looking for heads to put on my 90 305 and 57kid said something about the accessories hooking up. Now I never thought of that, but I should have.
So I think we need a place for anyone to put what heads work with what engines, accessory wise, or tell me it already exists and get my head out of --- the dark.
I wanted to use 416 or 601 heads on my 90 305. If I use 416 or 601 heads will the serpentine belt and everything else bolt up to those heads, or do I have to do some mods? Looking on the net I found everyone saying everything. From it will hook up - to drill holes in the old heads and be sure to plug them right because you are going to go through the water ports in the heads.
So does anyone know?
If anyone has any information about any heads and bolt up problems for belts, or alternators, power steering, air conditioning, water pumps, how about posting it in one place so anyone can get to it? Feel free to put it here - I will not think you are hijacking the thread - any heads with bolt on problems with any accessories.
I don't want to buy heads to find out that now I have to redo the belt system, or take them into a machine shop so everything will fit. If I know in advance that is one thing, I can have all the machining done at one time, but to find out after it is all bought and you want to start installing, well that is something else.
So does anyone know if you put 601 or 416 heads on a 90 305 do you have to do anything else to bolt the accessories up to the existing setup?
Hope this question makes sense.

Re: WILL OLD HEADS TAKE NEW ACCESSORIES

I had not heard of any problems with this. I have heard that some aftermarket heads do not have the holes in exactly the right place... Sorry, thats all I know...

Re: WILL OLD HEADS TAKE NEW ACCESSORIES

he might have meant that heads prior to 1969(I think?) did not have accessory holes drilled in them for mounting of alt., ac, ps and such

Re: WILL OLD HEADS TAKE NEW ACCESSORIES

I would think as long as they have the three holes tapped in the front of them.

Those are my thoughts as well, but I'm not too knowlegable on that subject.

Re: WILL OLD HEADS TAKE NEW ACCESSORIES

601 heads will work just fine. So will the 416.

Re: WILL OLD HEADS TAKE NEW ACCESSORIES

I recall reading threads where members were forced to drill and tap a hole in the head when swapping in a serp system.
