pushrod and rocker help!!

ok sooo i had a tick in my engine( 305 v8 from a 88 camaro).

so i took all the pushrods out and they were all fine. so i put them back in and over tightened the rockers waaaaaay to tight and tried to start my car. then BOOM. so i took them all back out and all of them except a couple are bent pretty bad. so i got new ones and i need to put them in.

1. how to adjust the rockers when everything is back in.
2. what might be damaged from the pushrods being bent.(valves, springs, ect.)
3. best way to install pushrods and rockers and get it them all adjusted again.

i've heard that you tighten the rocker nut till there is resistance on the valve. then start engine with towels to catch the oil. then from back to front tighten each nut a 1/4 turn. idk how to do. never done it before..

HELLP! please

Do a search there are threads, tech articles here, and on the web.
You really don't need to do it with the engine running.

Here's a couple, read a few before doing adjustment.

Re: pushrod and rocker help!!

And do yourself a favour... since you have the covers off, and the pushrods out... Yank your plugs, borrow or buy a leakdown tester. Pump up the cylinders, and see how many valves you just bent (maybe you'll be lucky and it'll be none!).

But I bet you'd rather find out now than after you put it all back together.
