help! best gaskets for M/T valve covers
I found the same valve covers that were on the first sbc I ever bought
they were the first item to get painted with implement paint and urethane clear and have held up great on a hot and cold motor.
needless to say I have to take the alt and ac compressor off to get them in but I dont care. I really like these valve covers
anywho they leak like a sive and I cant find a gasket to seal these babies up
man I would hate to take them off.
thanks for the help and if you dont have these valve covers you will not know so please no guesses as they are a pain to do

Well, I don't have those valve covers, but my answer wouldn't be a guess.
But, since I don't have those valve covers, you don't want to hear what I have to say. So be it.

I also don't have them but I'm going to assume that that is not very important.
I had a hell of a time with chrome valve cover gaskets leaking on both my car and truck, I tried all kinds of gasket and then used a thick Mr. Gasket cork gasket and have no problems with them.

ok so if people have any sort of info I would greatly appreciate it
sorry I made such a fuss but I have not ran into anything like this before and was hoping that someone with mt valvecovers could tell me the appropriate gaskets to use
sorry to offend you

(sniff) I just want to help . . . (sniff)
The "upgrade" gaskets will typically do a better job than the standard gaskets available from most any name brand. I haven't had much respect for what Mr. Gasket has been selling for the past several years, although their higher priced Ultra-Seal line is better than standard stuff.
I've had pretty good results with Fel-Pro. See what you think of these - http://store.summitracing.com/partde...T&autoview=sku .
FWIW, I had M/T covers like those (plain aluminum) about 30 years ago. Never had trouble with them leaking, but I had them off about once every two months to adjust the solid lifters that engine had, and used cork/rubber gaskets which lasted about 5 remove/installs before I had to replace them.
(BTW, I wasn't offended. Just intended a little light hearted humor, at your expense, of course. I'll behave now.)
