TBI distributor on flat tappet hydraulic cam

TBI distributor on flat tappet hydraulic cam
I know that there are different distributor gear materials available. Is it ok to use a stock GM TBI distributor (from a 1988 Camaro 305 with factory roller lifters) on a flat tappet engine (1967 327) with a hydraulic cam (Lunati 60103)?
I will be using the TBI and ECM system. The question is just about the gear material for the distributor.
I have installed the distributor and it fits well. I have not run the engine yet. I am just not sure about material compatability. I seem to remember hearing that certain cams required certain distributor gear materials.
Any help will be appreciated. I did a quick search but didn't see the answer...

The car TBI distributor will chew up the cam. Get a truck TBI distributor, or change the gear.

Actually, it will be fine. Ran one in my '57 with a high volume high pressure oil pump and flat tappet cam for years, no problem at all.

You sure it wasn't a truck dizzy? Or maybe my cam was too cheap. It was a Summit K1100.

Well, I think I'm going to go with my existing distributor. Part store website shows the same distributor P/N for my 88 camaro 305 TBI as well as 88, 89, and 91 4x4 chevy trucks with 350. Those are the trucks I just happened to try.
Thanks, guys.
