Ignition timing with cc306

What should i set the timing at with the cc306 cam. I'm running a carb and a vacuum advance hei distributor. The specs on the cam are 230/244 duration .510/.540 lift. The advertised duration is 290/306. Operating range is 2000-6000, but it's underrated and peaks at 6300.

If these may be of any help, here are the motor specs:

355
Forged flat top pistons 9.73:1 compression
ported vortec heads
holley 3310 750cfm vacuum secondary carb
summit hei vacuum advance distributor
stealth air strike intake

Re: Ignition timing with cc306

Best timing is determined by the heads, not the cam. Those Vortecs do best with 30-34 degrees total centrifugal advance.
