Save your money on a throttle body. They're rated to handle ~450 hp.
You need to get rid of the air restrictions.
Exhaust first and then intake.
What setup do you have? TPI? TBI?

I went custom on my exhaust so I have no brand preference.
Either port the heck out of all your intake pieces (many threads of info) or replace the parts with aftermarket (many more threads of info).

If you can burn your own and use the wealthy knowledge base here i'd say go for it.
When it comes to buying a chip, do a search on what people think are actually worth the money. There are a lot of posers out there. Jet, for example.
You don't actually have to have mods to make your car run better if you're burning your own chips.
