Engine Build With lots of money involved.

I Have a 1988 l05 TBI Camaro. Not Stock of course, has 53,000miles on the motor and 6,000 on the 700r4. The camaro is Parked until May... UGH! But I've been Gathering Things. I Have a Pair of Pro Comp 3002 heads and a 268H Flat tappet cam Right in front of me. I plan to get an intake and an engine rebuild kit.

Whats got me Nervous is my Piston to Valve Clearance. The Heads have 1.60 EXH and 2.02 INT Valves They are 64cc Combustion Chambers. The Cam Features are .454" lift EXH and INT. With 268* Advertised Duration/ 218* @ .050", LSA is 110*.

Anybody done This kind of build with the Stock Pistons? I havent torn my engine down, Wont be able to until May. And I'm Going to order pistons if i have to. if i dont i wont. I did do some research, My L05 Suffix Code is PJC, and Should Have dished pistons, as it came from a 1988 1500 Chevy Pickup. I bought the car with the Motor Rebuilt and installed.

Thanks for any Comments/concerns/idea's

If I am not mistaken, after 87 GM I think went to roller blocks. Don't know much about the LO5, but the LO3 is a roller block.
Those valves are too big for the bore of 305.

L05 is a 350. Not a 305.

You won't have VP issues with that cam.

I know its a Roller block, All I should Have to do is remove the Spider in the valley. The 2.02/1.60 Valves Wont be an issue with stock pistons though?

Re: Engine Build With lots of money involved.

Does anyone here have Heads with 1.60/2.02 Valves? on their SBC?

I did more research, the Stock 193 heads have 1.94/1.5 Valves. Im gonna Guess that Im all set. I'll Check the P/V Clearance when i put it together. I hate Surprises though!

It's not even going to be close to a problem.

Many, many 350's have 2.02/1.60" valves with a lot more lift than that.
