Firebird Won't Start... kinda
I have an 86 firebird with the 2.8 V6 engine. I bought it from a woman who has had it sitting in her yard doing nothing for at least five years. We brought it home, changed the fuel pump, and it ran. I then changed the oil, all the spark plug wires, spark plugs, distributor cap, and rotor button. It still ran. Over the next few days i didn't do much with it as i was waiting on a title. The next few times i tried to crank it, it would crank but then die right after. Then it started refusing to crank at all, unless i am to hold the coil wire off the distributor cap. I've tried changing the coil and that didn't help. Any ideas as to what the problem could be? I've tried searching the forums but i haven't found a solution yet.

So your saying that it will crank without the coil wire on the distrubutor cap?

Not with it completely off, but if you hold if about an inch away it will crank and run. Perhaps that suggests the fire isn't hot enough?
Nevermind i sold it and bought a mustang.
