Question about spark plug wires... Should I get new ones?
Ok.. so I started up my Camaro cuz my truck had to go in the shop so i needed a car to get to work and whatnot.. I realized that starting was not firing up as quickly as it used to and while driving it seemed like something was missing.. well i was doing a little work when i realized i heard this clicking coming from the engine.. sure enough i noticed that the spark plug wires were leaning on the headers and i saw sparks, well a blue line that would come out of the wire and attach to the header.. for now i have readjusted the wires so they are not touching and as a quick fix put electrical tape around the wire.. will this be ok the way it is or should i be getting new wires for the ones that are a ltitle burnt? Also could this be the cause for the hesitaion and the reason the car wasnt starting up as quickly as usual? Also is there anything else i should be checking?

Well as far as the hesitation the spark plug probably isnt to blame for that. Possably the hard starting but shouldnt really make all that huge a difference. I would deffinetly replace the wire because even if its not arching the wire inside may still be damaged from the heat.

Electrical tape won't stop the 40KV (+/-) that's firing the plugs. Invest in some good wires and keep them away from your exhaust. You probably want to do the plugs too while you're at it. They may be fouled from the misfiring.
