Hi everyone I have a 91 camaro with a 3.1l and I am having problems with getting the engine to stay running. I went through and replaced all my fuel lines, fuel filter, fuel injectors, distributor, rotor, cap, wires, plugs, and the coil and my car starts up fine and runs smooth but after its been idling for about 3-10 minutes somewhere in there it will just cut out. I have no clue what the problem is. I have the timing adjusted to very close on the mark and everything seems fine. The engine is getting enough fuel so I dont know whats wrong. If anybody has anyclue what the problem is that would be really appriciated!

Does it start back up right away or do you have to wait? Could be the pickup coil in the dizzy, I had this problem with my GTA and found the pickup coil was corroaded.

 

It really sounds like a fuel pump. Have you checked for both pressure and volume?

 

 

The car starts right up after it shuts off. I think the problem is mostly fixed. I replaced my fuel filter again and checked my injectors and I think before when it was running on old gas and there was also some moisture in the gas tank it clogged a few pores on a couple injectors and the fuel filter was probably semi clogged also. I Cleaned the injectors and put in the new fuel filter and I let it run for about 45 minutes and it didnt shut off. I drove the car around the yard and the only time it shuts off is when I put it in reverse. I can drive it around in drive and it runs fine but when you put it in reverse it cuts out unless you floor it right away. Any ideas for what could cause this?
