Intake manifold to cylender head fitment problem!

Hey, i have patriot freedom series heads on my car. i bought my motor already assembled and when i pulled it apart to regasket it i found that the gaskets do not line up! the water ports match perfectly, all the holes line up. but the gasket covers the top of the intake port by at leat 1/8 inch! not only that but the bottom of the gasket is about 1/8 inch lower than the port. The gaskets match the manifold perfectly, im wondering if there is a differnt head or what could possibly be wrong? i am very upset about this becuase 1/8 inch is a big deal when you have this restriction on EVERY intake port. im going to post up pictures of this tonight, but if anyone is familar with what im talkin about please shed some light on the situation. thank you! if nobody knows anythign about this i am definatly going to have a talk to patriot.

Different manifolds and heads have different port sizes.

Re: Intake manifold to cylender head fitment problem!

its not the port size. say i move the gasket down slightly, where it doesnt line up with the bolt holes but lines up with the intake holes, the gasket fits great. its like on the cylender heads the holes are higher than they are supposed to be. the size of the gaskets and heads is right but skewed...

Re: Intake manifold to cylender head fitment problem!

Do you know what intake gasket you are using? I had to run a fel-pro 1206, and it still covered a small part of the port, but it did not matter, the intake manifold port an a victor jr is considerably shorter, so that part was shrouded by the intake anyway.I believe these heads have the vortec style port entry, I would see if a vortec intake and gasket would line up better if I had to do it again, but my motor went 11.50s with the standard victor jr. and a fel-pro 1206 gasket, so it can not be to bad of a misalignment.
