Elect Charging Problem.
Had the Alt checked it was ok, The Battery checked ok, I did replace the starter so it's new. The problem is one time I look the ameter shows 14 volts the it will bounce back and forth from 14 to 8 volts sometimes it stays at 8 volt for a while then it will go back up to 14 volts for a while. Something else strange is if I have the radio on when I step on the brake pedal the radio goes back to 88.1 instead of staying on the station that is selected. The car did set for 3 years befor I got it so I'm at witts end Oh yea I also put a new belt on it too. If I hook it up to jump it the gauge does the samething, When I pull the two wire plug off the Alt the voltage stays at 8.5 to 9 volts while the cables are connected. Any ideas are welcome.

It really sounds like the voltage regulator inside the alternator is going bad... Take a volt meter and with the black terminal on ground, put the red terminal on the lug on the back of the alternator.. If is a steady 13+ vlts, your alt is ok.. If it bounces, replace it... Dont go by the gauge on the dash....they arnt that good. whatever you get when you test at the lug on the alt is the ACTUALLY voltage its putting out.

Ok I'll check the voltage at the field wire conn on the alt but I wait till it's not 7 degrees outside..
