Comp Cams Rocker kit?

Has anyone used this kit from Summit CCRP1417-16 that comes with the pushrods? I was wondering if the push rods are better than the stock rods? I looking at installing them in my 1989 305 TPI. Not looking for any big improments, I needed to do some repairs and thought I would replace them while I had it apart.

Summit CCRP1417-16
COMP Cams Magnum Rocker Arm Kits feature the popular Magnum steel roller tip rocker arms that are made from 8620 chromemoly steel. This superior material, along with the Magnum's super stiff design, assures maximum lift because these rocker arms won't lift. Each rocker arm kit includes quality COMP Cams pushrods.

Thanks

I'm not finding that number. CCA-1417-16 is just the self-aligning rockers.

You need to know if the pushrods are the flat-tappet length or the roller lifter length.

Re: Comp Cams Rocker kit?

Sorry the part# is CCA-RP1417-16

In the Notes it does say:
Designed for use in engines equipped with factory hydraulic roller camshaft. Kit includes pushrods.

Thanks

That is about the only combination that I didn't try. For some reason, their site didn't find rp1417-16.

Their pushrods are probably a little higher quality than factory, but they aren't hardened, and they're charging you $15 over the price of the rockers only. Not a bad deal, but don't expect a big difference because you spent the extra $15.

I've been using those rockers on the 396 since 1997. I can vouch for their quality (at least the ones made 11 years ago).

Re: Comp Cams Rocker kit?

So will they fail becase they are not hardened?
Would I be better off just going with my stock pushrods?

Comp Cams tells you to replace the rods with new ones when installing new rockers.

Thanks

You only need hardened if you're using guide plates. These are self-aligning, so you don't need guide plates, and therefore don't need hardened.

The ones included in that kit would be fine (at least as good as and probably better than stock). I just didn't know what you expected out of them. Replacing the pushrods when putting in new rockers is a good idea.

Re: Comp Cams Rocker kit?

Well that was what I was looking for. Just wanted to make sure that all the parts would be fine in a stock engine.

I had to replace the lifters due to the engine setting up for a few years. So while I am in it that far just wanted to replace the rockers and rods as well. Like you saw it was only $15 more for the kit. Felt it would be worth the extra money in the long haul.

Thanks
