can i re use these rings

ok so i bought a rebuild kit with piston rings from summit and the oil spacer rings were manufactured wrong so they arent useable (i was told this by my uncle who is a mechanic)... can i use the old oil ring spacers or use oil ring spacers from another 350?... just an idea that popped into my head

What exactly about the spacer rings is "wrong"?

Re: can i re use these rings

they are too hard and the oil rings cant compress it so its putting too much pressure on the cylinder walls.... my uncle said that they cant be used or fixed so they are garbage now... the manufacturer messed em up

Re: can i re use these rings

Much more likely you've either got the wrong rings for the bore size, or they were installed wrong.

Get ahold of Summit Customer Service, or the company that makes your rebuild kit. That's what warranties and guarantees are for man.

Re: can i re use these rings

Were you the guy who posted about this same problem about a week ago, and got the same response?
Your uncle is probably mistaken. Rings are RARELY "made wrong", whatever that even means... If it makes you feel better, return them and try again. My guess is that perhaps somebody on the production floor mismatched the wrong bore size oil control rings in that box - or you're just being a hypochondriac

Re: can i re use these rings

Are you using the old pistons? If so, did you clean the ring grooves? You need to get the crap out of the groove or you will have the same problem you are describing.
