Starter prob?

Everytime I turn on the car I hear the fuel pump turn on along with my stereo. I turn the key and it sounds like water boiling? Could this be the starter or a burnt up wire. If I did need a new starter what would be a good starter that is small, powerful and light. Thanks

Re: Starter prob?

I am guessing you hear this sound while it is cranking?
The sound of water boiling is really odd though, that is throwing me way off.

I would expect burning wires to sound more like bacon frying, or a camp fire.
As for the starter, if its not aligned you will hear grinding possibly.

If the starter is bad, it will either turn over very weak, or not turn over.
If it cranks the engine just fine, then it should not be the starter.

Like I said, the sound of water boiling is throwing me.
Guessing maybe Air Bubbles in your cooling system.

Also, has this happened since you put the new motor in, or just started happening out of the blue?

Re: Starter prob?

Will the car start?
Does it turn over slowly?
Have you tried getting someone else to crank it, while the car is in a dark place while you looked for sparks?

Have you checked for exhault leaks near the headers / exhault manifolds?
