OKAY FIRST...SORRY IF THIS IS IN THE WRONG POST BUT YEAH....
PRETTY NEW TO THE V8 SCENE BUT I LOVE IT...I JUST RECENTLY BOUT A 91 FIREBIRD FORMULA WITH A 5 SPEED..
ANYWAYS I HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS BEEN TRYING TO FIGURE OUT

HOW DO I TELL IF MY CAR IS TBI OR TPI?....

I WAS TOLD IT WAS A 305 BUT WHY ARE SOME PLUGS/WIRES MISSING FROM MY TRANNY? I AHVE A SOME KIND OF PLUG THATS SITTIN IN MY TRANNY BELOW DRIVIERS SIDE WITH NO CONNECTION...DOESN'T SEEM TO AFFECT DRIVING..

ALSO WHY DOES MY SPEEDOMETER DROPS SPEED WHEN I HOT LITTLE BUMPS AND SOMEIMES IT DON'T WORK AT ALL..SEEMS TO WORK BETTER DURING THE RAIN.....

Your motor is a tbi engine. A tpi looks like the pic I've attached. Not sure on your trans wiring. Your formula is an electronic speedo, and the wiring down at the trans could be related to your speedo problem.

now i can get on my way of getting it fixed and running proper....

 

its not the factory tranny. sounds like some one swapped a t-5 in there. that would explain the hanging wires. and the speedo might be mechinal, is there a cordish then running to the back of the tranny i believe?

 

well...its not exactly at the back but more like in the middle of the tranny...there used to be a wire there cuz i can see the wire cover hanging..its more like right below the drivers seat...

 

hmm, that hanging wire was to an auto trans, that determind when to shift the trans. is there another wire, or cable, coming from anywhere on the trans? actually a pic of the whole area would really help, can you get one?

if its no wire other then, or another wire then you have an eclectic speedo, but if there is a cable then is mechincal and somewhere alone the cable its breaking, in my camaro, where the cable went into the tranny, a tooth off a gear broke, causing my speedo to jump.
