92 acting weird
i have a 92 305 tbi and i just got it. everything on the car is stock and i mean everything. well lately its been doing this thing where it seems like if its gets to hot it will not cut on when we get back in the car. we could drive around town all day and if were to turn off the car and get out when we come back to turn it on it will not start for like 20 mins and we will have to play around with the battery anyone knows whats going on?

Off the top of my head it sounds like you've got a bad ignition module - very common to fail when they heat up. Start by changing it out, faily inexpensive & not too bad to get at. Remove the disributor cap and you will see it bolted to the distrib base with 2 screws with 2 wiring harnesses plugged into it. Unplug wires, remove old module & replace with new.

Re: 92 acting weird
This sounds a lot like what my firebird was doing a couple of years ago. Sometimes I would have to ask around and find someone to jump it off to get it to start. I'd turn the key and nothing would happen. Sometimes I could mess with the battery cables and it would start. It turned out to be a bad starter silenoid and the starter had to be replaced. Not sure if this is the exact problem you're having but this is what happened to me. Hope it helps.

If I understand correctly, the starter will not crank the engine after its been running for a while (hot) but will after it cools down.
This is a classic symptom of a starter with worn brushes. If this is the case then wacking the starter with something heavy (hammer) while somebody else hold the key in the crank position will get it to crank. If that works, replace/repair the starter.

But I am not clear on if it's cranking and not starting or if it's not cranking. There is mention of messing with the battery so I believe it is not cranking.
