EGR VALVE A HEADACHE!

i was going to buy a new EGR valve from a-zone. but the one they carry has a really small hole for the egr temp sensor. so i went over to my buddy at Napa and he ordered me the correct one with a new sensor and guess what?? this one has the same small hole but the new sensor has the big thread like my original one! how is that supposed to work!!

i heard i can clean my old one and it should be fine? Also i know tpi parts has one that i might order. Any suggestions....

Re: EGR VALVE A HEADACHE!

just replaced one like 3 days ago on my 305TPI. they dont carry them... the only way to get it is through GM... AC delco... its 127$ it has the same large hole as the stocker.. u cant really fix them... i had the same prob as u with first getting the small holed EGR....

here is the GM ACdelco part #
ACD# 214-5562
GM# 17113483

gotta get them from GM part dealers. also im not totally sure if the sensor was a temp sensor... i tested it with a torch and an OHM meter and it did absolutly nothing... a mechanic told me that it was a heater... and would heat the EGR when it was cold... but they discontinued them just like the cold start injector. not sure i believe him. so i just left it off

Re: EGR VALVE A HEADACHE!

I bought one at Advanced Auto Parts for $60 BWD Automotive Egr Valve.
It fit my stock sensor, and included gasket. the only problem is that the hose fitting from the EGR solenoid did not fit, Its an easy fix with a bigger peice of vacuum hose

Re: EGR VALVE A HEADACHE!

the GM cost about 127$ listed but i got it for 73$ bc thats how much GM sells them for i believe... included gasket as well. the BWD looks like the one ihad before that had the wrong sized sensor hole... the GM one had a gold iridated finish and looked exactly like the one i took off. same quality... didnt look cheap like the BWD one i had in my hand. its up to u, u got the part #
