Re: Does this stuff work?
havent used it personally but i wouldnt bank on it. Something you buy from checker for 8 bucks is most likely not gonna be a cure-all for your motor troubles, does your motor show signs of decreased performance? id start with the basic tuneup and work from there but dont put your bets on an addative that claims to fix your motor with one use, people do the same with that autorx stuff but i dont personally wanna spend the money to get no results. The product you listed just looks like a regular old motor flush so you might not gain anything unless you have tons of miles on it, in which case you should get some seafoam, mine just ran over the 200K mark and i de-carbed the motor with seafoam and noticed a bit of lost power but not a whole lot. Smoked like crazy though that was the fun part

No decrease in performance.. Just found out it had 217,000 miles instead of 117,000 so i thought id go pick some up since ive heard alot of recommendations for this stuff from people.
I was looking for sea foam but i couldnt find it.. Where do i get that stuff at? lol.

pretty much none of those "engine restore" products work.
if your motor has tons of miles on it, and u want to fix it, itd be best to look into a complete rebuild or motor swap.
although an engine rebuild is pricey, it is worth it in the long run. and besides those products will just cause you headaches anyway,

Re: Does this stuff work?
well for those of us not dripping with cash...
Seafoam did the trick for me , DO NOT use it in the crank case. i put half in my fuel system and half into my TB, shut it off then give it 5 or 10 minutes then crank it, stand back cuz it smokes but at best it just de-carbs im in the same boat, mine just rolled for the second time im at 20350 (i think thats the number two hundred thousand three hindred fifty miles. AND its already had a swap before that lol.
Seafoam is good stuff should be able to get it at any parts store, checker/shucks/kragen, autozone, o'rieleys etc

Id rather get every last bit out of this engine. Im very poor right now.. I would like to make it to atleast 250,000 miles.
I would have never known it had over 200k miles on my engine if it wasnt for carfax. It still runs pretty good.. But i think it needs a nice eternal cleaning and tune up
I'll have to go check out auto zone and kragens soon for sea foam.. I heard good stuff about that too.
Id have to wait until i have the car over at my other house in the country since i'd probably smoke out this whole neigborhood with seafoam.. lol...

Re: Does this stuff work?
I believe this engine wasn't really cared for.. It has so much built up oil and stuff on the outside of the engine.. Im about to give it a real good degrease job soon.
Only gaskets that leak are the valve cover gaskets.. thats because the covers are all bent and dented.. I got some chrome ones sitting here. It burns alittle bit of oil on idle.. but other then that.. its a pretty healthy engine.
This is going to be my semi daily car. I know it has some life left it in but it just needs a good seafoam clean and stuff

I would only treat the inside with a safe for your sencer motor fluch.. if you degrees it you will probly have a lot of leaks Like I did on a 350 that had 170,000 miles on it just my 2 cents take it or leave it

Re: Does this stuff work?
Those things do work, but it wont really give you noticeable effects, they just thicken up your oil, and they arent meant to "save" your engine. with that many miles, your best bet is a rebuild

Re: Does this stuff work?
you kinda gotta pick your poison at this point if you degrease you MAY find some leaky spots because the sludge and dirt mixture thats sealing the leaks will be washed away just degreased my 02 lancer with 92k miles on it cuz the valve cover was messed up i replaced it but when i degreased the intake started to develop a leak so its kinda of a swing or miss with it, hope it helps

Leave it, lots of things go "funny" if you're not careful. If you do degrease the motor, use a spray on degreaser and a LOW pressure hose. Cover your distributor cap with a piece of plastic. Too many times a high pressure hose is used, like at a car wash. It does more damage than good.

Re: Does this stuff work?
go for the Black Magic Engine cleaner -$5 a can on a warm engine and low pressure water spray (less water is better) - best product doesn't ruin rubber hoses or electric connections
