Thoughts on build for 305-383 swap.
I figured this was the place to post this, as this is a general engine building question:
So I spun a bearing on my 305 and decided to throw a 350 I had laying around into it. I've torn the 350 down to the block and am taking it to the machine shop in a week and I want some opinions on the setup I am planning for. Now, be aware I know how to build an engine, but I'm not good at designing setups, so please bear with me if I'm way off my mark here.
The rotating assembly I am looking at (Or something very similar, I'm purchasing it from the machine shop so I'll be using what they have)

Heads I'm looking at:

Cam I'm looking at:
http://www.jegs.com/i/Comp+Cams/249/...1/757952|10707
I'm planning on going with the HSR intake with the A-FPR
I do however need a conversion kit because I want to use roller in my origionally flat tappet block, am I wrong thinking this is the way to go?
So any thoughts or suggestions?

You're going to pay $500.00 or more for the retro-roller lifters to go in that engine. You'd be better off finding a roller block off an 86 and newer car. It'll be cheaper anyway, especially if you find good stock rollers in the motor you pick up. That's what I did with mine, the engine was a long block and saved me from having to buy new lifters as well as a few other things. The rest of it looks ok to me but I"m like you, set-ups aren't my strong point.

I would go with Scat over eagle. Both chinese metal, but Scat is machined here in the US.
I'd also go with a bigger cam, like the 280 to compliment the well flowing heads and intake.
Roller block would have been a better way to start, however, you already have the block and tore down. What would you pay for another block?

Re: Thoughts on build for 305-383 swap.
Junkyards around here have roller blocks for around $400, but they have no garuntee that they are good so it's a crapshoot :-/, but I'm still keeping my eye out for a good deal on one just in case.
I'm not sure what brand of rotating assembly the machine shop has, I'll have to ask. As for the cam, I was looking at the 280, to be honest 6000rpm scares me a little, but I'll bet it's worth the extra power.

With a stroker motor the rpms will be lower. And 6000 isnt anything to worry about.
