Tick tick..Whats that sound? Vid inside
Getting a tick, knock in my engine. Seems pretty consistent with rpms and is most noticable from idle till about 2500 rpm. Ive adjusted the rockers 3 times didn't help. Car has a new cam, lifters, rockers, heads. I hope I am wrong but I am thinking it may be a rod bearing

Have you pulled plug wires one-by-one with the engine running to isolate the sound to one (or more than one) cylinder?

Yeah it sounds worse in the video, the chugging sound is mostly the exhaust it is pretty loud, its the tick that I am trying to figure out.

Would a worn cam lobe cause a similar sound? Reason I ask is because it took a fair bit of cranking to get the car fired for the first time after changing the cam. I believe that could wipe a cam lobe.

Unplugged the wires one at a time and did not notice any difference in sound.
Had the valve covers off and noticed on #2 the intake rocker had a ton of oil flowing down it, none of the others did. What would cause this or is that normal?
Here is a short clip of it: http://video.cardomain.com/Clip.aspx...DA9D0404ACAE75

[quote=jamez74;3824437]Haven't done that yet. Been planning on it, just a pita seeing as I have to jack the car up, again, to get the back two passanger wires off. Oh well its gotta be done, maybe tomorrow.
(For future reference) Unplug the wires from the distributor cap, using insulated pliers.

[quote=Burnout91;3825410] Yeah I unplugged them from the cap. Just did one by one, shutting the car off in between. Would have been better with it running and using pliers but I already had the valve covers off and didn't want to run it for that long.

never seen that happen before but the lifter is what send the oil up there . i had 1 go bad when i tached out a 305 tpi 1 time and the car had a steady loud ticking sound , but i never ran it with the valve cover off so i dont know if it was spewing oil like that .
but this makes me suspect that this may be your problem and you even pin pointed the lifter . try to tighten or loosen that rocker up an see if the sound goes away (make sure you mark where the nut was so you can put it back) .

If I remember correctly when I adjusted the rockers that one did not seem to get as tight as the rest did. When setting zero lash then doing another 3/4 turn it still seemed abit loose.

Re: Tick tick..Whats that sound? Vid inside
Well I pulled the intake and put the stock lifters back in instead of the comp lifters. Engine sounds much better now but still has the same tick. It couldn't be the valves just tapping the pistons could it? When I bought the heads I was under the assumption my car had dished pistons in it but they are flat tops. I would think it would be a much worse tick it that was the case though wouldn't it be?
Engine seems to have much better power now, i'm guessing the intake wasn't sealed as well as it could have been.

I checked them earlier and they were tight Could be a bad gasket but they are new, but aluminum not copper.
