Edelbrock EPS or Weiand Action + 8120 ???

Weiand seems to have newer design 8120 intake that is supposed to work well with larger engines in the lower rpm range, similar to a performer or performer eps. They claim better fuel distributinon etc than the edelbrock perfomer, etc .......

Building a mild 383, 9:1 comp, XE262 cam, 882 heads to put in the car, I think the performer RPM while an excellent manifold is overkill for my app. So is the newer Weiand 8120 better than the peformer eps ??? Anyone running the weiand ? thx

Re: Edelbrock EPS or Weiand Action + 8120 ???

EPS is a good manifold, as its kindof a hybrid of the regular Performer and the RPM, but the 8120 is probably very similar.

One big advantage to the 8120 though, is that a dual-feed Holley (DP or vac sec) will bolt right on without issues. The Edelbrock Performer, EPS, and RPM all have a common problem, in that the vacuum port in the manifold that you use for the brakes is right below the secondary bowl on a dual feed Holley, so it will not clear the carb without a carb spacer. Edelbrock makes a low-profile fitting so you can (barely) clear the fuel bowl on the vacuum sec Holleys, but a DP will NOT fit without a spacer. Period.

The 8120 has the vacuum port farther away, so its a non-issue.

I wouldn't say one of the 'bigger' intakes would be overkill though... for an engine like yours, I would HIGHLY recommend using either the 'Performer RPM' or the Weiand 8150 (very similar to the RPM, but different in the same way as the 8120 with the vacuum port). I'll be replacing my RPM with the 8150 soon, just because of the issues with the Holley carbs I use on the car.

I hate to experiment on something like this, the Wieand sounds like great manifold, but Edelbrock makes good stuff too.

Any real world usage usage of the Weiand or has anyone swapped from an Edel EPS for something better? Thanks

What carb are you using? If its a Holley, use the Weiand... the manifolds are otherwise so similar, you will not notice a difference.
