Loss of power
I have a 1985 Pontiac Trans am 5.0 4 barrel carb . When I first bought the car I was able to do much bigger burn outs now my car does half that . I did a full tune up , had the tranny tested by a transmission shop they said it was working properly . I am wondering if the carburetor could not be working properly any ways to test it ? Car does run very well however . Is there anything else that could be causing the power loss?

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
Exactly how/where are you doing these burnouts? I'd say in general it's a pretty poor way to measure horsepower. 1/4 mile MPH from the track time slip is a much better measure.
Burnouts anywhere but the track burnout area =

Re: Loss of power
I wouldnt say something of that sort to such a veteran member of the board. They are quite knowledgable, so Id listen to what they have to say. I dont think he meant to be offensive in the first place.
As for your issue, try a Seafoam before you go as far as a carb rebuild.

Wow dude and i thought i had an attitude on here.... Let me give u a piece of advice sell ure bird to someone who will apreciate it and take care of it and buy a honda. If u dont want to do that and want to keep the firebird bad enough then get that lil chip off ur shoulder and be polite to people on here who forget more about cars in one nights sleep then youll learn in your whole life. What five7kid said was spot on. he wasnt disrespectful to you and was only trying to help. Grow up stop being some lil jackass that thinks hes got a cool car cause although i love the third gens ill tell you now you car is slow as hell. Until you put alot of time and money into the car to make it fast dont be trying to show off. I saw your response on another post and all i can say is either get right or get the **** out.
