Have 69 PS pump in, and can't get right pres. hose. Easier to get modern pump?
Ok so I have manual steering. A $400+ box, not a man. S10 or anything like that box.
I used it for about 2 years, and am sick of manual steering. I drive the car WAY more than I thought I would (good thing)
So.... Now I wanna go back to power steering. So:
-I got some brackets. and installed them
- Got a belt
- and was given a pump from a 69 camaro, installed that
- got an 88 camaro steering box, installed that.
-installed the return line
Now the problem. The pressure side on the box is an o-ring fitting and the pump needs a flare. I tried flaring it, and can't flare the tube, WAY to hard of a metal for my flaring tool. Soooo.... What should I do?
Just get a remaned box for an 88 and a new pressure line? Will that work?
Thanks for any input.

Hmm, i'm thinking you could just go by and industrial hydraulic hose and shop and bring your hose and box if you can, and tell them you need an adapter fitting for it.
I'm SURE such a part exists.

true, I just have about ZERO idea of where a shop like that exists. I guess I will google or something one. Wish me luck.

There are a couple of ways to go. The pressure valve in the back of the pump unscrews. Get one from a newer pump and screw that one in. That will provide a saginaw fitting to match the fitting on the box. Use a stock hose.
The other way is to get the inserts for the box from Lee. These will change the saginaw fitting to a flare fitting. Then use a flare to flare custom hose. Decent auto supply stores will have a shop out back that can make flare to flare hoses. It's those saginaw fittings they don't have.
