1986 Z28 Camaro - Need Help Please Read -
I just bought a 1986 Z28 Yellow Camaro , She is a beauty but so far I have 3 main things I really would like to get fixed asap but I was curious if anyone might know the problem so the mechanic doesn't try and rape me .
First Problem - She starts up fine and she sounds great but when I put it to a stop or for instance am at a stop light it starts to slowly die down and then eventually stalls , So If I want to prevent this then I hold the break down and rev it .
Second Problem - My speedometer fiddles , for instance when I am driving and I am at 30mph it will bounce between 30mph and about 35ishmph and its even worse when I am at 80mph it will jump from 80mph to 90mph .
Third Problem - When I pull it out of Park and go from Reverse it will jerk a little bit and then go to Drive it will jerk again .
Answers - If you can please give me your feedback It would be much appreciated .
Sincerely - Joshua

Question 1 : I had the similar problem, was an bad injector causing it to flood and die when stop at stoplights and leaving it in gear.. So if you got TPI measure the injectors and see how the ohm out..
Question 2 : really dont know, but it could be an bad connection. When it does this, do the car run smootly or do it "jump" in the same tempo as the needle jumping ?
Question 3 : What do you mean with jerk ? do it "jumps" not running smooth ? or is it just an "klonk" sound ?

Question 1 - How much do you think thats going to cost ?
Question 2 - The speedometer jumps between lets say 80mph and 90mph . It
Question 3 - When I shift it from Park to Reverse it Jumps like a hard kind of tug . Same thing with going into Drive.

On your response to question 2 the car runs smoothly

Q1: New injectors cost $215 : http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku
(those 19lbs are for 305TPI if you got 350 you need 22lbs /hr injectors.
And gasket for changing the injectors : http://store.summitracing.com/partde...t=FEL-MS930351
$39 for the gasket (be sure to use the fel-pro o-ring on the injectors because the ford o-rings are little smaller then stock, so the fel-pro must be used to get a proper seal on our camaros.
Q2: Maybe you got an bad speedometer wire ? or vss module..
Q3: If it klonks, jumps, and make strange sound when shifting its prolly your tranny mount / torque arm bushing :http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku
and this one : http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku

Number 1 is hard to say without diagnosing it.
Number 2 is a dry speedo cable that needs to be lubed. Simply pull it out clean it, apply some lube and reinstall.
Number 3 is most likely a bad trans mount or low fluid level.

Yeah, but you need to measure your injectors before thinking about buying new ones. They shall ohm out around 14-16ohm each, and dont stand out to much from each other.. and if they ohm out ok, the injectors may be bad anyway, because they can have a bad spray pattern or hang open/closed..
So test 2 is to let it come to working temp and have it idle and then pull the power to each injector and see if the rpm changes if it runs better or worse. If theres a change to the worse when pulling the power we can pretty much say that, that injector are fine. but if there isnt a change, maybe theres something wrong with that injector..
