I have a paperclip connecting #5 and #6, but the SES light keeps flashing 3 times, then pauses, the flashes 3 times...it keeps doing this and then finally i hear the computer "click" and the light comes on again, but then it keeps flashing in the "3" sequence...how do i know when to stop counting when it keeps flashing in 3's ???

(There is an idle problem with the car and it sometimes stalls out, espcially in reverse, when it does stall out the SES Light comes on...I"m trying to read the code to see whats wrong)

 

Is it flashing once, then a short pause, then two more times, then a longer pause? If it is then it is flashing the code '12'. It should flash '12' three times, then flash any other codes, if any, then flash '12' again three more times when it is done showing codes. If it is only flashing '12' then you may not have any codes set.

Yes, thats exactly what it does, but it just keeps repeating that pattern, and thats all it seems to do...when the car stalls, the engine light comes on, but then when i turn the key back and forward again, the light is off...could the code reset itself and not show any problems? The engine light doesn't stay on all the time to show a consistent probelem, only when the car stalls does the light come on

 

I just tried it again, I allowed the car to stall out, then the light cam on, and then i tested it, but i could only get the 3 sequences of light flashes, and nothing else...strange
