car has a mind of it's own :( trouble

i just dont understand whats going on here, i have a 91 gta with the slp package on it, she runs perfect on day and just dies the next, let me explain. SOmetimes i will start my car and it will idle fine, i put it in drive and she drives like normal and all of a sudden the car loses power and drops to idle and then spudders and shuts off while crusing on the highway or just driving around. once it shutsoff i can start it again but sppudders soon as i hit the gas it dies. i try it again and it starts normal and i drive for a bit and it repeats itself. other days this doesnts happen, doesnt matter the weather it is competely random id like some help im in the military and i dont have a lot of time to start diging in to her blindly. im kinda leading toward the coil, only because thats the only part of the ignition i havent changed. please someone point me in the right direction

Two things come to mind, first being the fuel pump. You can pick up an inexpensive gauge at autozone and drive the car with it installed and see if you are losing fuel pressure. The 2nd is tougher to test and that is the ignition module. I have a spare from a dist that I use as a test part, so I have no testing method, but modules do cause the problem you describe though.Hope this helps, Good luck.
