Fuel injectors/shorting problem?
Ok first off to reference this is kind of a continuation of my hard start/stall problem in the threat at the bottom.
I got a noid light today to test the injector harnesses, and one of them apparently is shorted? because the noid light stays on bright when the key is in the ON position and continues to be on when cranking.
ALSO when i hear the crackling sound described in the other thread when the key is ONthe noid light flickers on and off with the crackling. sometimes it also just stays off instead of on. the other ones pulse normally.
So is this a short somewhere like im suspecting and if so how do you think i can track it down/fix it?

Unplug the suspect injector and see if it runs better. The best thing to do is get a multi-meter and check each injectors impedance. a good injector will read between 14 to 16 ohms.

Re: Fuel injectors/shorting problem?
Ok i just checked the resistance of each injector and they were all 17 Ohms, which is good right?
Then i put the voltmeter on the wiring harnesses' and left the key in the ON position. and was checking the voltages (essentially the same thing as the noid light)
and on the TOP LEFT 2 wires, every time i heard like a electrical clicking sound ( which is obviously not normal) the injector wire went up to 14 volts and stayed there, until it clacked again and they went back down to 0
heres a pic with my broken cameraphone as unecessary as it might be, what could cause the crackle and the voltage fluctuation?

Re: Fuel injectors/shorting problem?
I would inspect the injector wires for shorts, it sounds like you may have a wire shorting somewhere. with the key on you should see 12v on one side of each injector connector.

Re: Fuel injectors/shorting problem?
idk its kind of confusing to me,
the wires look good... no shorts they just go into the harness loom and all look good without wear, they all read 24 ohms of resistance..
when i measure the voltage accross the 2 sockets, i get zero except for when it makes that sound it goes up to 14
when i put the positive in one of the sockets and the ground on the intake i get 15.5 volts constant...
idk

Re: Fuel injectors/shorting problem?
what controls the firing of the injectors, the ICM?

Re: Fuel injectors/shorting problem?
The ECM controls them by switching ground, that’s why you see 12v on one side when the key is on.
