it has an electrical male spade terminal on it and is coming out of the radiator by the trans cooler

Coolant level sensor; for when that radiator is installed in some one of the various other cars that it fits, that have that

Alot of replacement radiators have them...
I don't know offhand what other cars to look at, could be Buicks, Cadillacs, trucks, I just don't know exactly, to find the necessary circuitry; but I suppose if you came across a car that has the "Check Coolant Level" light on the dash, you could investigate the electronics that it takes to turn the sensor (which is capacitive I believe) into driving a light. I have 2 Jeeps that have such a feature, and at least one Cadillac (98); so those are places you could look. I'm sure there's others.

I have seen them on early 1990's Pontiac Grand Prix's. I know because I have replaced alot. They tend short to ground, leading to a major decrease in reference voltage resulting in a car which would barely run. Personally, I would not hook it up. Just my $.02. -Bob
