Starting problems!!!!
I have a problem that after my car runs it won't start back up all the time. Sometimes it will start first crank, sometimes it will crank and crank and nothing. I thought my carb was leaking into the intake so I took it apart and replaced the gaskets' power valve, floats, pretty much everything. Still wouldn;t start so I tossed it and bought a new avenger 670. Still have the same problem so now i'm ruling out the carb. Fuel pump is reading fine according to my guage, it's an 84 l69 305 so the pump is mechanical. I replaced the top of the dizzy, still same problem. Timing is advanced 12 degrees, never given me any problems there. I have some loose wires down on the starter tho, broke the main post internally some how and the post won't get completly tight. It has three wires, the main battery wire, and two other little ones. I haven't a clue what they do. Anyways could these cause it to not start? Grounding out or something. They are the original wires. It does crank, but that's it. Symptoms: Starts, runs fine, after it set for 30 minutes or so won't start again, or sometimes will. It's very weird and i've tried everything I know.
