hot tank - brass/bronze?
I'm going to re-hottank my heads to clean them up. They have thick wall bronze (or was it brass?) valve guides.
Does the hot tanking damage the bronze or am I good to go?
Thanks

Soft metals normally can't be put in a tank if they're using lye. You could always let the shop make that decision.

It's the company I work for, i'm in the Edmonton office now.
I couldn't find the jugs for the hot tank, i'll ask the mechanic out there when he's back.
Crap, he just put my heads in there. Oh well, i'll find out when they come out I guess!

Oh yea, that stuff eats bronze. Oops.
New guides for me!
Hot tank solution is weird stuff though! It's a pink powder called "big *****" or something. Just add water and watch out!
I got the guy to spray them with some 'mustang" afterwards. They practically sparkled afterwards. Then some industrial grade rust inhibitor and i'm good to go!
