Re: 383 what heads?
New pair of assembled Dart SS series Iron heads marketed through PBM. Cylinder heads are for carbureted small block 327, 350, 377, 383 or 400 engines. (377 & 400 applications for street would require steam holes to be drilled. We can drill the steam holes for an additional $30.00 for the pair. ) 67cc heart shaped combustion chambers. ( These heads are also available in 76cc versions - see our other lot listings for this chamber size ) Straight plug design. High flow 170cc intake runners. Integral cast valve guides. Bolt holes on end of heads for all accessories.Heads have both the perimeter and centerbolt holes for valve covers. These heads are assembled in our machine shop. Seat concentricy is checked, mild bowl blending is done to remove any casting intrusions. Assembled with premium stainless 2.02 intake valves and 1.60 exhaust valves with necked down stems. New .550 lift Z-28 valve springs, new steel retainers, hardened locks, and umbrella valve seals. Screw in rocker arm studs (3/8") and guideplates are also included.

Re: 383 what heads?
if you want an iron head, that compression may be on the high side depending on combustion chamber. I would do either vortecs or better yet, Dart Iron eagle platinum series with a 200cc runner.
you wont need a whole lot of head flow to make 400 flywheel hp. If you want more hp, you'll need more flow and more flow is usually Trick Flow, Dart Pro 1, Brodix, AFR, etc.....
EDIT voodoo 60101 has
Advertised Duration IN/EX: 256/262
Duration @ .050 IN/EX: 213/219
Gross Valve Lift IN/EX: .454"/.468"
LSA / ICL: 112/108
Valve Lash IN/EX: Hyd/Hyd
those specs. good for a stocker 350. VERY small for a 383. Bump up atleast 1 step, preferably 2 steps

Re: 383 what heads?
you definately want to be around .500 lift with most heads, and some of the high end aftermarket it be best to stick to around 550 lift or so. Vortecs love .500 and no more.
The lift is ok with that cam its just the duration is really small. The voodoo 60102 isnt bad at 219/227 duration. I really like the 60103 at 227/233 but with 1.6's the highest lift is .537. getting close to max lift but should beable to handle it

Re: 383 what heads?
what? not port the manifold to match? there wouldnt be that big of a consequence, and it may actually not really effect much.
I'd take a look at how well the port matches the manifold ports on the HSR. Make sure there is no overhanging metal protruding into the intake flow path from the walls of the head port. If all looks good then you can just bolt it on and not worry about it.
Just make sure you have enough material on the top of the HSR to cover all the patriot head intake port. havin a 1205 port goin into a 1206 isnt that big of a deal, but i think it leaves alittle bit of flow on the table by not matching them together abit better.
just bolt the hsr on, and take a look down the runners to the head and see how well it all lines up. If it looks good, and you have enough material to seal the head, then dont worry about port matchin anything
