Sucidal car, any ideas?
Ok latley i've been fighting to get my car to run correctly, i keep having a random jerk when i either a) get on it...or b) try to accelarate in 4th or 5th, so i had my neighbor whos a master technician come look and we've been knocking out the possible issues 1 by one, first the filter, pump, FP reg, etc.
About the time this jerk developed my car would idle like its trying to kill itself, drop to 500, then rev up to 1500, back and forth and its horrible, sometimes it gets slow enough to where you can see the teeth on the belt clearly. He said i could have a vaccum leak or my map sensor is going out, hes giving me a sensor for free but i still want to kill the problem, anyone have a good way to check for vaccum leaks? And could a vaccum leak or bad sensor cause my described issue?

i would check for vacuum leaks. i have had similar symptoms in a mustang and the cause was a vacuum leak.
i dont know much as far as manifold air pressure sensors go, but i am sure somebody else will chime in on that.

is it throwing any codes ? for finding vaccum leaks i use a can of carb cleaner and spray it around the vaccum lines while motor is running and listen for the rpms to change, usually get you close to finding a rotted or broken line.
