shifter cables

i have aN 84 camaro and gna put a b$m shifter pro stick in it. but the stock shifter has two cables.. what is the other one for? ones on the side with the neutral safety shift and others on the bracket that moves with the shifter handle....any help please....

It should be for the ignition lock that does not allow the shifter to move without the key being forward, on my 91 that is what the second cable was for, hopefully this helps
