MELTED WIRE HARNESS PLEASE HELP... PIX!!
hey guys i finally picked up the 88 iroc. the guy showed me where it was melted so i toook pix of the wires and the 2 relays that go to them. here they are

butt connectors? thats horrible. Solder and shrink wrap. no other method of repair is allowable IMO. The square one is the FP relay, if i remember. Not sure on the other. Been awhile since i messed with that stuff on one of these.

will those relays stop the car from starting? and running? also how do i tell if the relays are fryed? and how do i know if the ECM is bad? the wires only melted a few inches thats all. doesnt look like anything else melted

maybe the 3-wire with the large red wire is going to your o2 sensor

well i will be lookn for more melts but it doesnt seem like there is more., also can u guys tell me where these pig tails are suppose to go? and does any1 have a pic of the fuse block on the inside of the passenger side fender.

the one top pic the square connector 3 pic down the right connector... there are 3 relays on the driver firewall that are interchangable. since yours is an 88 its a MAF car. one is a MAF burnoff relay, one is the MAF power, and one is the fuel pump relay, they all look the same and they all are interchangable. u well need them all for the car to run! sry man
without the FP relay the TPI fuel rail wont pressurize or run. the MAF power wont turn the maf on and they car wont start and if it does its gona run like crap, wihtout the MAF burnoff relay the car will run but u will throw maf burnoff relay code and the car wont perform good.
those connectors are ok for a quick fix but i wouldnt do any electrical work unless u soder and shrink wrap it... thats the only and best way

the car is a TBI . and i have got new relays. i just need to know where that last pic goes to. and how do u know if u have fiuel pressure?

Yeah, you need to hook relays up to the connectors in the first pic. The square one is the fuel pump relay. The round relay is probably for the cooling fan. The connector in the last pic looks like the ecm/fuel pump fuse. Need to put a 20 amp, blade style fuse in that one. I would imagine it will start and run once you hook up those relays and put a fuse in the connector by the overflow jar.
