oil pumps, once more....
ok, one more oil pump thread...
as many of you know, mellings pumps are.....???
so, is there any traditional wet sump oil pump around in the aftermarket, that..
.....is rated high performance
.....have a "good" heavy housing, that doesn´t crack
.....have billet gears, no p/m gears
i searched around, but didn´t come up.....
thank you

Re: oil pumps, once more....
hi
Moroso pumps are also cast by melling, so the same weakness here...
there was a topic, not too long ago, that the new casting tend to break, especially used in high performance/strokers/solid motor mount engines...
my "specs" are , i want a good, reliable pump, like the old melling design with heavy casting and billet gears....

Scratch that. Thought I had Melling but I have the Moroso 22145.
Don't know about the internals specs though.

Apparently Moroso does have some billet pumps.
Moroso 22138 and 22139 (8.25" sumps)
Supposedly they have other billet pumps out as well.

It was only the "standard" Melling pump housings that were modified.
Why billet gears? PM gears actually have advantages to them in this application.

Re: oil pumps, once more....
Tell me more about the pumps failing.
I just bought a new mellings pump and did so because I believed it to be high quality.
If not I will replace before engine install.

Re: oil pumps, once more....
I know this will sound strange, but I have had the best luck with the mellings m-77 which is a standard 454 oil pump. That along with the matcing pick-up will bolt into a 350. Cheap, durable and has high volume.
