Starter Disengaging?
My started is giving me a hard time. When I try to start it, it engages and then 1 or 2 cycles, it disengages, but the starter just revs. then, I let it stop and do it again and it cranks like 2 times again, and it disengages and revs again until I stop. Anyone know what the problem is? My car needs to go to the tranny shop tomorrow (only weekday off in a while) and I need to fix it.
If it makes any difference, I have a high torque mini starter.

Re: Starter Disengaging?
I don't think It would be, it is a newer starter, It goes every time I try to start it, it just disengaging, kinda like it slips off. I can get it to start by bumping it a few times.

Sounds like the starter drive, or Bendix, whatever you want to call it, is bad. Pretty common failure mode.
You just need a new starter.
Doesn't matter if it's "newer" or what; if it's broke, it's broke. Replace it.
