Crate Motor Guys - What do you do about your drain plug for oil changes?

GM crate motors come with a special drain plug that has a rubber seal built into the flange of the bolt. This rubber wears out after each use so I have to buy a whole new drain plug every time I change my oil. The plug is like 5 bucks. What am I missing?

Don't torque it down so hard and it'll last forever.

?? My stock oil pan plug has that rubber seal, and it lasts forever... You torque it down lightly and it's great.

Still isn't working. I tightened it only light enough to make a seal, and it worked great the first go-around. Changed my oil, and when I go to re-use it, theres a drip forming within minutes.

You can buy in bulk oil plug washers. The dealerships refer to them as gaskets. You could probably go the the dealer or someone such as them and get some reasonably cheap. I probably have about twenty in my toolbox that i put on the long grained variety of auto.
