large or small journals
I'm trying to find bearings and see a lot of for large journals..
crank shaft
I have an 88 5.7 large or small, the bearings say std. so I'm not concerned about that.

Re: large or small journals
Small journals = ALL SBCs from 55 to 68, exc 67 & 68 350 (265, 283, 327)
Large journals = ALL SBCs from 69 to present except 400; and 67 & 68 350 (all those sizes you posted, in those years)
Note that "ALL SBCs from 69 to present except 400" includes ALL 350s.
This has nothing to do with how far the crank has been turned.
So yeah, you want the bearings that fit a 350, in whatever undersize your crank now is. Those are typically described as "large journal", because they're not "small journal" or "400 journal".

Re: large or small journals
Except when they're called "medium journal" to distinguish them from the "large journal" 400 and make things more confusing, kind of like "externally balanced".
