pro top line heads any good?

i found some pro top line heads for about $400 here in town. i have been looking for some aluminum heads for my car but ran across these and looked up the flow numbers and they are pretty good i just dont know which exact heads they are. where can i find the casting numbers on the heads? they are pretty much bare. there are all new valves in them though and i already have new comp 981 springs retainers and keepers. i have some comp cams roller rockers but they are self aligning so i'd have to get different ones. it needs guidplates and the studs and of course pushrods which i have also.

Re: pro top line heads any good?

Sorry. Cant say I know anyone who has ever had experience with those heads. I would say for 400$ though, ANY aluminum head, quality or not, is a good deal. Even if they didn't flow any better than the ones on the car, they're still taking 50 pounds off the front end. I'd say give em a try, then you can let us know if they are any good or not, haha. Good luck.

Re: pro top line heads any good?

find those numbers before you buy. it will tell you the cc sizes and valve sizes and stuff. they might have 2.08 valves and angle plug???

i will run nothing but protoplie heads . there now RHS heads, they went under and sold out to them. some people say there heads started getting bad right before they went under. i baught mine 3 years ago and they run great. so im not shure if thats a rumor or what. anyway if you cant find any numbers, dont buy. specs are everything when it comes to heads. if you buy the crazy ones it might ping because the small chambers.

also look at the intake ports, they might not line up with your intake if the runners are like 235cc like mine. i had to get a special (tall port) intake for mine. you can put a stock intake on it and still see the port hahahaha!

also when you find the #'s it NEVER hurts to call RHS (racing head service) and ask them if it will fit you application. some are 23 digree and some are 18 and 14 digree and so on...............
