WHAT is going on with the 270 dollar EGR valve>?!!!!

92 3.1 v6 MFI - So whenever I get a new car there are certain things I buy. Mostly sensors and engine attachments. I like a smooth idle. So far I've been really impressed with the prices I'm finding..until... EGR for almost 300 bucks? Why? My 02 crown vic needed one - 60 bucks. So what's so special about this EGR? Does it have something to do with the no MAF thing?

autozone should have them for around 200... napa would probably be cheaper

napa part number #DEMEG10109 $68

that would be cheaper than the crown vic which is $72

Yea, $202. I know the newer electric ones are ridiculously expensive, but I dont think any of the 3rd gen f-bodies had them, they all had the vacuum operated EGRs.

The older 2.8 V6 thirdgens had the vacuum type, but the newer 3.1 V6 thirdgens did get the digital EGR, hence the reason they're so outrageous.

Why electric? What do they even do that's so special? I'm sorry my mind is just blown. I've seen actual fbodies for sale for the price of that EGR - does it give some special feature a vacuum opeerated one doesn't?! - So confused - my 99 escort has a vac op one...am I rambling?? lol

I honestly can't answer that question. Lol. For some reason, GM decided to start using the digital EGR's on the V6 motors long before they went to them on the V8's.
